'Another successful project for the Co-op'

Following on from two successful comfort cooling installations at their department stores in Coventry and Nuneaton, the Co-op asked AirRight to design and tender for the mechanical services installation for this new funeral facility. After several design consultation meetings with the client, AirRight's design was established and their tender submitted and subsequently accepted.

The project involved the conversion of a former retail food outlet into a new state of the art multi-faith funeral parlour comprising of a 2 station mortuary, 3 chapels of rest, arranging rooms, workshops and offices together with a purpose built garage block with mess facilities to house the 12 car funeral fleet and staff. AirRight were ideally placed to carry out all aspects of the installation in-house, from VRF air conditioning to gas fired heating, LPHW heating and ventilation. The garage block was served by a ducted gas-fired warm air heating system maintaining optimum conditions for the vehicle fleet. A balanced ventilation system interlocked with a carbon monoxide detection system was installed to allow the cars to be run and tested before use. The main funeral parlour building was served by several systems for optimum conditions. The back-of-house areas and workshop were served by a condensing boiler plant with radiators.

The offices, arranging rooms, chapels and reception areas were served by a SANYO VRF air-conditioning system and ventilation plant with dedicated control system. The mortuary was served by a dedicated low temperature air-conditioning system with variable ventilation system for this specialist area. The overall effect has been to provide efficient heating, cooling and ventilation systems to achieve a comfortable temperature controlled environment for our client’s customers and staff and meeting with the necessary requirements for the buildings operations all completed on time and on budget.
